Ripple-backed network XRP Ledger (XRPL) is seeing a spike in activity, described as a distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attack by Magnetic X, a decentralized exchange. Since Dec. 28, the network has averaged 5 million transactions daily from hundreds of accounts, disrupting functionality and speed.
The attack strategy involves numerous wallets sending minuscule amounts of XRP to a single wallet, which has been tagged as fraudulent. Despite the disruption, some experts like Mayukha Vadari argue the surge is due to increased fraudulent inscription trading activity within the network.
This situation has notably impacted nodes on the Magnetic X platform, causing them to overload, but efforts to optimize and resolve the issue have been successful. The network’s resilience highlights the importance of robust security measures in sustaining blockchain integrity.
