CME Group to Launch Options for Solana and XRP Futures
- CME Group will launch options tied to Solana (SOL) and XRP futures by October 13.
- Options will be available on standard and micro contracts with weekly expiries throughout the year.
- Since launching SOL futures in March, over 540,000 contracts have traded, totaling $22.3 billion in notional value.
- XRP futures, introduced in May, have seen more than 370,000 contracts traded, worth $16.2 billion.
- Average daily volumes for XRP futures reached approximately 6,600 contracts recently.
The launch of these options is a response to increasing demand from institutions seeking advanced trading tools beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum. CME’s decision reflects significant liquidity growth in both Solana and XRP futures markets.
With over $22 billion in notional value traded for SOL futures alone, the introduction of options is expected to further enhance market participation and hedging strategies.(Source)
