Stacks co-founder Muneeb Ali said uncertainty about future quantum attacks may already be limiting Bitcoin’s growth and delaying institutional investment. He urged developers to set a credible roadmap for quantum-resistant protection, saying cautious investors may delay large purchases without one.
Ali said Bitcoin could enter a riskier period if developers make no meaningful progress by 2028, because protocol changes and moving assets to new addresses would take time. He cited 2030 as a transition benchmark but suggested AI advances could bring the timeline forward to 2029. He acknowledged that some in the Bitcoin community consider the threat distant or exaggerated.
