Jack Dorsey’s Payment Platform Eyes African Markets With Chipper Cash

Jack Dorsey’s digital payment company, TBD, has partnered with Chipper Cash to expand its services in Africa, targeting 40 countries. This collaboration, between TBD—a subsidiary of Block, co-founded by Jack Dorsey—and Chipper Cash, aims to leverage digital assets for cross-border payments, distinguishing itself from competitors with its innovative approach to cryptocurrency transactions. With over 5 million customers across 21 African countries, Chipper Cash’s integration with TBD’s platform allows users to transfer cryptocurrencies directly, convert them to local currencies, or hold value in Bitcoin, stablecoins, or dollars. This move caters especially to the younger demographic in Africa, amidst rising inflation, positioning Bitcoin as a viable hedge against economic instability. The partnership signifies a strategic push towards embracing digital assets in the African financial market, heralding a new era of digital payments on the continent.
