Solana Foundation said a protocol change went live on October 9, 2026, cutting the network’s target slot time from 400 to 200 milliseconds. It said Alpenglow consensus went live on October 21, 2026, targeting roughly 150-millisecond finality. Neither figure guarantees a 200-millisecond transaction confirmation or measures how long an application response or bank payment takes.
In its November 6 review, the Foundation also reported that real-world assets on Solana reached a record $5 billion in value during October. That value is distinct from trading volume, and the review’s payment announcements include a mix of launched products, planned support, limited access and pilots.
