Ripple’s Trust Bank Wins Final OCC Approval

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency granted Ripple final approval to establish Ripple National Trust Bank on October 26, 2026, Ripple said. The approval follows conditional approval in December 2025; the bank has not yet opened.

Once open, the federally supervised bank will manage reserves backing the RLUSD stablecoin, act as trustee for those reserves on behalf of holders, and offer digital asset custody to enterprises. RLUSD will still be issued by Ripple’s New York-regulated Standard Custody & Trust Company. The approval comes amid a federal lawsuit by community banks challenging the OCC’s crypto charters; Sen. Elizabeth Warren has also argued that such approvals violate the National Bank Act.
