Bitcoin bulls eye $95K; options bears accumulate

Coinglass data puts bitcoin futures open interest at 672,480 BTC, worth about $54.78 billion, up 1.46% over 24 hours. Rising open interest shows more outstanding contracts, but does not show whether bullish or bearish traders drove the increase.

Coinglass also reports that calls make up 59.35% of bitcoin options open interest, while puts account for 52.07% of options trading volume over the preceding 24 hours. Deribit’s largest listed positions include Oct. 30 calls at $90,000, $95,000 and $100,000; those positions do not establish where bitcoin’s price will go. For the Oct. 30 expiration, estimated “max pain” levels differ by exchange, at about $78,000 on Deribit and $81,000 on Binance and OKX. Max pain is a theoretical settlement level, not a dependable price forecast.
