Brazilian crypto exchange Mercado Bitcoin said it contained a security incident in one of its systems and temporarily suspended deposits and withdrawals. The company said customers were not harmed and there was no data breach. Reports of suspicious transfers appeared to involve the exchange’s own assets rather than customer funds.
Arkham Intelligence analyst Emmett Gallic said he had tracked more than $46 million in losses so far. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said his firm froze more than 4.5 million USDT linked to the incident.
