Mercado Bitcoin suspended deposits and withdrawals on November 2, 2026, after identifying a security incident in one of its systems. The exchange said it contained the incident, no customers lost money and no data leaked. Deposits and withdrawals remained suspended, with no date given for their return.
Blockchain security firm Hypernative flagged more than $40 million in suspicious transfers that may be linked to the incident across at least 10 blockchains. Mercado Bitcoin has not confirmed that figure or said how the attackers got in. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said Tether froze more than 4.5 million USDT connected to the incident; a freeze does not itself return funds to their owner.
