Bitcoin Inverse Product Launches at Hong Kong Exchange

The Hong Kong Stock Exchange (SEHK) will launch Asia’s first Bitcoin inverse product on Tuesday, July 23. This aligns with the launch of the Spot Ethereum ETF in the U.S. on the same day.

Managed by CSOP Asset Management Limited, this product offers sophisticated investors a tool for short-term trading or hedging. This BTC inverse product aims to provide the inverse (-1x) of the daily performance of the S&P BTC Futures Index.

It operates by investing in short positions of BTC futures on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME). The product is denominated in USD but traded in HKD on the SEHK. It targets sophisticated investors who understand the risks and can monitor their investments daily.

Key features include a 2.00% annual charge and a tracking difference of -0.05%. The launch marks a significant milestone for SEHK and Asian financial markets, offering a regulated way to bet against BTC’s price.

This product allows potential profit from BTC price declines and acts as a hedge against market downturns. However, investors should be aware of the extreme price volatility, which can lead to significant losses.

The introduction of this product demonstrates SEHK’s strategic move to cater to sophisticated investors and enhance its financial product offerings.
