Bitcoin: BlackRock CEO Calls It Digital Gold

BlackRock CEO Larry Fink now sees Bitcoin as a ‘legitimate financial asset class’ for those seeking financial control outside traditional systems. Once a skeptic, Fink’s view shifted after studying Bitcoin, admitting his past opinions were wrong.

Fink highlighted Bitcoin’s potential for uncorrelated returns and its role as a hedge against currency debasement and geopolitical instability. He equates Bitcoin to ‘digital gold,’ suggesting it as an alternative asset amidst global uncertainty.

He acknowledged that Bitcoin appeals to those who distrust their country’s institutions, seeing it as a vehicle for financial expression driven by fear. By July 6, Fink aimed to democratize Bitcoin, making it more accessible and affordable.

In March, BlackRock filed to include Bitcoin ETFs in its Global Allocation Fund, marking a significant institutional shift. This move could integrate Bitcoin further into mainstream financial portfolios.

Fink’s evolving stance underscores the growing institutional recognition of Bitcoin’s strategic importance in financial markets.
