Bitcoin miner Crusoe Energy announced a multibillion-dollar deal with Lancium to build a 200-megawatt AI data center in Texas. The project, revealed Thursday, marks Crusoe’s first phase of expanding AI workloads across 1.2 GW of power at the Lancium Clean Campus.
Founded in 2018, Crusoe is notable for using wasted natural gas to power its Bitcoin mining. The new data center will support up to 100,000 GPUs, significantly boosting AI training and inference capabilities.
CEO Chase Lochmiller highlighted the partnership’s potential for creating the world’s largest GPU clusters, aimed at speeding up AI breakthroughs. The facility is expected to be operational by 2025, though the exact timeline is still uncertain.
This initiative underscores a strategic move towards sustainable energy solutions in AI development, backed by substantial venture funding.
