Bitcoin Resilient Amid Germany’s $362M Exchange Deposit

Germany’s government transferred 6,306.9 Bitcoin (BTC) worth over $362 million from its holdings to several entities, including Kraken and market makers, according to Arkham Intelligence. The move, starting last week, followed the seizure of 50,000 BTC from Movie2k in January.

The largest transfer of 16,000 BTC occurred on Monday, significantly reducing Germany’s Bitcoin trove to under 23,000 tokens. Despite the substantial offloading, Bitcoin’s price remained stable above $57,000 at press time.

Notably, exchanges like Bitstamp, Coinbase, and Kraken have returned over $300 million in BTC to Germany, suggesting difficulties in liquidating within agreed price ranges. This event highlights Bitcoin’s resilience against large-scale liquidations and the complexities of managing significant crypto assets in institutional contexts.

This strategic liquidation underscores the challenges and mechanics of crypto asset management on a governmental level, emphasizing the importance of market stability amidst high-volume transactions.
