Bitcoin Transferred by Germany to Multiple Wallets

The German Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) transferred 900 Bitcoin to Kraken, Coinbase, and an untagged wallet on June 25, 2024. The transactions included $24 million in Bitcoin sent to exchanges and $30.4 million to an untagged address labeled “139Po”.

This move follows previous significant transfers of $130 million and $65 million in Bitcoin to exchanges on June 19 and 20, respectively. The Bitcoin was seized from Movie2k.to operators and transferred to the BKA in January in a ‘voluntary transfer’.

Germany now holds 46,359 BTC, valued at around $2.8 billion, making it one of the largest nation-state holders of Bitcoin, behind the US, China, and the UK. This substantial holding positions Germany strategically in the global Bitcoin market. There is speculation that these transfers could indicate a potential sale or asset diversification strategy by the BKA.
