Jack Dorsey’s fintech startup, Block, and payment provider MoonPay are teaming up to simplify Bitcoin (BTC) purchases through traditional methods. Announced Tuesday, Block’s BTC hardware wallet Bitkey will integrate MoonPay to enable purchases via bank cards, Google Pay, and PayPal.
MoonPay’s KYC-registered user base with stored payment methods will streamline fiat-to-crypto onramps. Later this year, Bitkey plans to introduce “MoonPay sell,” allowing crypto-to-fiat conversions. These partnerships aim to expand Bitkey’s capabilities and grow the self-custody and broader Bitcoin ecosystem.
Released in March, Bitkey competes with Ledger and Trezor for BTC storage. The partnership comes as BTC gains attention globally, with U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs managing nearly $60 billion since January. BTC also peaked at over $73,000 this year, showing significant growth potential.
This collaboration highlights the strategic importance of making Bitcoin accessible and boosting the self-custody ecosystem.
