Bitcoin hashrate seven-month high despite AI shift

BlocksBridge Consulting reported that Bitcoin’s seven-day average hashrate rose above 1 zettahash per second, its highest level since March 3, despite publicly traded miners shifting capacity toward AI. The recovery suggests other operators may be replacing lost computing power, but it is unclear how much equipment sold by larger miners has returned to the network.

Bitcoin’s mining difficulty rose 5.92% on Oct. 16. BlocksBridge projects a further 5.16% rise at the next adjustment; if that happens, difficulty will have increased about 11.4% across the two adjustments. BlocksBridge previously reported a 23% decline in publicly traded miners’ realized hashrate alongside a 52% quarterly rise in their reported AI and high-performance computing revenue.
