Bitcoin Holders Received eCash: What’s It For?

Paul Sztorc launched eCash, a separate fork of Bitcoin, on Oct. 29. The fork gave an equivalent ECX balance to people who controlled the private keys to their BTC at the snapshot, at Bitcoin block 973,728. Holders using an exchange depend on that exchange to distribute the tokens.

Self-custody holders need an eCash-compatible wallet and must separate ECX from BTC carefully: an unprotected transaction on one network could be replayed on the other. Native ECX trading is limited. NeoxEX said it opened trading on Oct. 29, while CoinW announced distribution plans but had not announced trading dates. CoinMarketCap listed ECX at $32.63 as of Nov. 5, but CoinGecko showed no price or tracked markets, and Kaiko did not track it.
