Bitcoin reaches $81.5K as GDP beats forecasts

Bitcoin rebounded above $81,000 after a Wall Street open, reaching $81,547 on Bitstamp after falling as low as $79,607. The move followed US economic data that met or exceeded forecasts, but BTC/USD still faced resistance. Analyst Rekt Capital said it needed to reclaim $81,400 by the weekly close.

September’s US Personal Consumption Expenditures price index rose 0.5% from August and 3.6% from a year earlier, in line with expectations. The final estimate for third-quarter GDP was 3.4%, above the expected 3.2%. US stocks opened lower, with Alphabet down 12% after missed earnings and revenue figures.
