Bitcoin Faces Fed Pause; Officials Seek Hikes

The Federal Reserve held its federal funds target range at 3.75% to 4.00% on October 28, 2026. Ten committee members approved the decision; Lisa Cook and Beth Hammack dissented in favor of a quarter-point increase. The Fed said the economy was expanding at a strong pace, inflation remained elevated and uncertainty persisted.

The hold does not signal an imminent cut, and the dissents do not establish that the next move will be an increase. The Fed has not committed to a December decision. For Bitcoin, the policy message raises a question about investors’ appetite for risk, but the source says price moves around the announcement may also reflect leverage, equity markets and positioning.
