Bitcoin Core Revises Security Policy for AI

Bitcoin Core developers merged a security policy update for vulnerabilities they classify as “easily discoverable.” The project may use that label for reported flaws findable through a simple query to a large language model; the change does not cover every security flaw.

For flaws given that label, Bitcoin Core will backport a fix to every maintained release and issue a new version as quickly as possible, with a security advisory, instead of keeping the fix under a long embargo. Chaincode Labs developer Antoine Poinsot cited a rise in reports of bugs that are easy to rediscover and argued that a quiet patch would offer little protection if an AI scan could find the flaw.
