DTCC Prepares for Tokenized Securities Market Launch
- The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) plans to initiate limited live production trades in July, with a full rollout scheduled for October.
- Over 50 firms from banking, custody, trading, and digital asset sectors are participating in this initiative.
- DTCC’s custody system supports the effort with over $114 trillion in assets.
- Eligible tokenized assets include Russell 1000 constituents, major index-tracking exchange-traded fund products, and U.S. Treasury bills, bonds, and notes.
- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has issued a No-Action Letter allowing DTCC to provide this service for three years.
DTCC is advancing its tokenization service to bridge traditional finance and decentralized finance (DeFi). This move aims to enhance market liquidity, transparency, and efficiency by integrating real-world assets into a tokenized framework.
The planned launch marks DTCC’s expansion into tokenized market infrastructure while maintaining established systems’ custody and control standards. The phased approach allows participants to test interoperability before the full launch in October. (Source)
