Bitget announced a proposed purchase of Bangkok-based GMO-Z.com Cryptonomics (Thailand) through its interest in BTGT Management. The target operates a licensed digital asset exchange and brokerage, but Thai regulators must approve the change of control before Bitget can introduce its planned trading platform. A Thai SEC investor alert identifying Bitget itself as an unlicensed digital asset business remained listed with an Oct. 19 update.
Under the agreement, GMO Internet and other shareholders would transfer their entire holdings in the target to BTGT Management and/or its designated entity, subject to approvals and other conditions. GMO Internet’s disclosure listed Oct. 31 as the expected effective date of the share transfer.
