Binance Seeks MiCA License in Greece for EU Operations
- Binance has applied for a Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) license in Greece.
- The application is through Binary Greece, a holding corporation registered in Athens last year.
- If granted, the MiCA license allows Binance to operate across all 27 EU member states from a single regulatory hub.
- The Hellenic Capital Market Commission (HCMC) is reviewing the application with assistance from five audit firms, including Ernst & Young and KPMG.
- The EU’s MiCA framework requires digital asset firms to obtain authorization by July 1, 2026; only 4% of French crypto platforms have done so thus far.
Binance’s application for a MiCA license in Greece aims to secure EU-wide operating rights before the July 2026 deadline. The HCMC is assessing the request with expert assistance from top audit firms.
