Irish central bank fines Coinbase arm $3.6M

The Central Bank of Ireland announced an enforcement action against Coinbase Ireland on 22 October 2026 over failures to safeguard customer funds and provide oversight between 2020 and 2025. The regulator said Coinbase Ireland admitted the violations and agreed to the undisputed facts, settling for $3.6 million in fines. The sanctions require approval from Ireland’s High Court before they take effect.

The regulator said Coinbase Ireland also improperly relied on its US parent company to outsource certain services.
