Coinbase said it was not affected by Binance’s hot wallet incident and that its funds and infrastructure remain secure. It said more than 99% of customer assets are held in cold wallets, while assets held through Coinbase Custody are stored entirely offline. Hot wallets hold some assets to support withdrawals and off-platform use.
Coinbase said it uses split private keys, transfer limits, monitoring, emergency controls and restricted employee access to protect transactions. Unusual activity or a surge in withdrawals prompts review before transactions are processed, and some emergency controls can halt transfers.
