Crypto Exchange License Candidates Revealed by SFC

The Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) has revealed a list of cryptocurrency exchanges vying for licenses, including HKbitEX, PantherTrade, and Crypto.com. This announcement comes as companies like OKX, Bybit, and HTX withdraw their applications due to stringent regulatory requirements.

Among the over ten candidates, Crypto.com is notable as the only offshore exchange. A key regulatory condition is that licensed exchanges must not service mainland Chinese users globally. This highlights Hong Kong’s commitment to strict oversight in its cryptocurrency sector.

The SFC’s approach aims to ensure only compliant and reliable platforms operate, enhancing investor protection and market integrity. This move sets high operational standards, likely influencing global regulatory practices. By fostering a secure trading environment, Hong Kong is shaping the future of cryptocurrency trading, reinforcing transparency and accountability.
