Aave, a decentralized finance protocol, is experiencing a surge in whale activity and price following the launch of Aave V3.1. On July 31, data revealed whales withdrew over 58,848 AAVE tokens worth $6.47 million from exchanges in two days, driving the token’s price up by more than 7% within 24 hours.
The most notable transaction involved a whale address withdrawing 11,185 AAVE worth $1.23 million from Binance. This buy-side pressure has pushed AAVE to $111, marking an 18% increase over the past week. The recent price boost was also influenced by a fee switch proposal for an AAVE token buyback program.
Aave V3.1, which recently went live, brings enhancements to improve security, efficiency, and usability. The protocol currently has a total value locked (TVL) of around $22 billion, with the majority on Aave V3. The strategic upgrades and ambitious roadmap, including a vision for Aave V4 by 2030, underscore the project’s long-term significance in the DeFi landscape.
