Rug Pull: Gemholic Project’s $3.5M zkSync Fraud #Security

Gemholic, a project in the zkSync Era ecosystem, has been accused of a $3.5 million rug pull. The developers allegedly withdrew 921 ETH after fixing a smart contract issue that had initially frozen the funds.

After the fix, the team assured users of fund returns but instead transferred the assets to Ethereum and disappeared, deleting all social media accounts. The founder of Zkmarkets, NSerec, has demanded accountability from KYC provider SolidProof, criticizing their failure to address the fraud.

This incident underscores the vulnerabilities in the crypto space, highlighting the need for robust security and accountability measures. It serves as a cautionary tale for investors and developers, stressing the strategic importance of thorough vetting and reliable KYC processes.
