Binance said an Oct. 30 breach caused an estimated $6.3 billion impact. Its initial investigation pointed to a compromised DevOps laptop and unauthorized withdrawals. Bitget suffered a separate incident in September involving about $387.5 million transferred to attacker-controlled addresses. Neither company has publicly linked its incident to AI.
Google and Anthropic say attackers are using AI agents to speed up work such as credential theft, reconnaissance and exploitation. Those findings describe a broader threat, not an explanation for either exchange incident.
