OKX launched Shield on Oct. 20 for eligible U.S. customers, offering protection against certain unauthorized account takeovers involving phishing, malware and SIM-swap attacks. The limit is up to $100,000 for eligible customers, $250,000 for qualifying VIP 1–3 customers and $500,000 for qualifying VIP 4 and higher customers. Coverage requires specific account and device security measures and is subject to exclusions; it is not a guarantee against cryptocurrency losses.
At a press conference, OKX board member Andrew Cuomo backed the company’s proposed work on tokenized stocks, while acknowledging that companies may choose not to participate. He also said he did not expect a CLARITY Act vote before the 2026 midterm elections or action in the lame-duck Congress.
