A federal grand jury indicted Connecticut tax preparer Yuridia Trujillo on Oct. 7 on 19 counts involving allegedly false income tax returns. Prosecutors allege that returns she prepared claimed stock and cryptocurrency losses for assets clients never owned, and that she directed portions of some refunds to accounts belonging to her and an associate.
Authorities arrested Trujillo on Oct. 9. She was released on a $50,000 bond pending trial. The charges are allegations, and she is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
