Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission filed a criminal complaint on November 5, 2026, against BG Limited, which operates Bitget, for allegedly running an unlicensed digital asset business. The SEC says Bitget operated in Thailand from 2022 to 2025 without the required license. The case has been referred to the Economic Crime Suppression Division.
The SEC also notified the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society to block Bitget’s website, related domains and app effective December 5, 2026, and urged Thai users to manage their positions before then. Separately, Bitget’s planned acquisition of a licensed Thai trading and brokerage firm remains subject to regulatory approval and has not closed. Bitget has not issued a public statement specifically addressing the SEC action.
