Trump Renews Ross Ulbricht’s Freedom Promise

At the Bitcoin Conference 2024 in Nashville, former President Donald Trump announced plans to commute Ross Ulbricht’s sentence if re-elected. Ulbricht, the founder of Silk Road, has been imprisoned since 2013.

This proposal received strong support from the Bitcoin community. Trump renewed his pledge to reduce Ulbricht’s sentence to time served, echoing a promise he first made in May 2024.

David Bailey, CEO of Bitcoin Magazine, emphasized the importance of this commitment for any presidential candidate seeking crypto community votes. Trump also outlined plans to make the U.S. a global leader in cryptocurrency, including firing SEC Chairman Gary Gensler and creating a Strategic National Bitcoin Reserve.

This initiative aims to accumulate 1 million Bitcoins over five years to reduce national debt and strengthen the U.S. financially. The broader goal is to secure America’s top position in the global crypto market, showcasing a strategic long-term vision.
