The EigenLayer Foundation has announced a rewards program for stakers and operators securing Actively Validated Services (AVSs). This initiative will distribute 4% of the total EigenLayer (EIGEN) supply, marking a significant milestone for the Ethereum restaking protocol.
EigenLayer links various restaking protocols, allowing users to earn staking rewards by restaking their ETH. The new program will be the first to offer token-based rewards directly from AVSs via the EigenLayer protocol.
Stakers and operators will receive rewards proportional to the AVSs they support, incentivizing early participation. EigenLayer also plans to support AVSs that cannot distribute rewards initially, ensuring every genuine AVS can allocate some rewards.
The AVS rewards will launch in the coming weeks, with programmatic incentives following in the months ahead. EigenLayer, which went live on the mainnet in June 2022, has already seen over 4.8 million ETH and 108 million EIGEN restaked, with 16 launched AVSs and over 300 operators.
This strategic move aims to enhance the ecosystem, encouraging new actively validated services to join and participate.
