DeFi Adoption Soars 40% with Regulations

Survey Reveals Growing Interest in DeFi Among Americans

  • 42% of respondents indicated they would likely try DeFi if legislation is passed, with only 12% expressing strong interest in learning about it.
  • 84% of those interested in DeFi plan to use it for online purchases.
  • Less than half of participants believe the current US financial system meets their needs, highlighting a significant trust deficit.
  • Only 29% feel that the US financial system is secure, with many calling for upgrades to combat threats like cybercrime.
  • The total value locked in DeFi protocols stands at $160 billion, indicating its nascent stage compared to traditional finance.

The survey conducted by Ipsos highlights a shift towards decentralized finance as many Americans express dissatisfaction with traditional banking systems and seek greater control over their finances. The findings suggest a growing curiosity about DeFi amidst concerns over security and high fees.

With nearly half of respondents open to trying DeFi, this indicates a potential shift in financial behavior should supportive legislation be enacted.
