Democrats claim control of US Senate

Democrats won control of the US Senate after flipping six Republican-held seats, according to the Associated Press. Democrat Josh Turek’s win in Iowa brought Democrats and independents who caucus with them to 51 seats.

The change could affect the stalled CLARITY Act, leadership of committees overseeing crypto, scrutiny of Trump-linked crypto businesses and confirmation of regulatory nominees. Jerome de Tychey, president of Ethereum France, said crypto legislation would need support from both parties. He said the CLARITY Act failed a Senate procedural vote 49–50 in September and that, if it is not passed by January, the next Congress would have to start again.
