House Financial Services Committee Chair French Hill won reelection in Arkansas’ 2nd Congressional District, but is expected to lose his chairmanship after Democrats won control of the House. The Associated Press called his race against Democrat Chris Jones; the change in committee leadership has not been confirmed.
Reuters reported that Democrat Maxine Waters, now the committee’s ranking member, is the leading contender to replace Hill. Hill sponsored the CLARITY Act and voted for the GENIUS Act. His reelection campaign had a $1 million support pledge from the crypto-backed super PAC Fairshake.
