HYPE nears record; ICE eyes US perps

Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) and Trade[XYZ] announced plans for US perpetual futures covering cryptocurrencies, stocks, indexes, commodities and currencies. They said they would seek regulatory approval; no launch date was disclosed. The proposed market would target retail traders, with identity and anti-money-laundering checks and trading through participating futures brokers. Distribution through ICE’s OKX joint venture is expected but needs separate approvals.

Hyperliquid’s HYPE token rose about 20% on Thursday after the announcement, according to CoinGecko. ICE said it is taking a minority stake in Trade[XYZ] but did not disclose the amount. Objections from companies to ICE’s separate tokenized-stock venture concern shares, not the proposed perpetual futures.
