Malaysia Central Bank Launches Tokenized Bond Platform

Bank Negara Malaysia launched SSDS+, a distributed ledger platform for issuing and holding tokenized debt securities, including sukuk. It tracks ownership and transfers and connects to RENTAS+, which handles related bond payments in central bank money. The payment system is designed to operate around the clock.

BNM said SSDS+ is designed for wholesale issuance but is also ready to support tokenized government bonds and corporate retail bonds. The announcement did not identify any securities already issued through the platform or disclose transaction volumes.
