South Korean crypto exchange Bithumb is investigating a hack of its internal mobile system, including whether member data was leaked, Yonhap News Agency reported, citing industry sources. Bithumb discovered the breach and notified two regulators, but the extent of the leak remains unknown. The exchange told Yonhap that its internal work system is separate from its trading system, so customer crypto assets cannot be accessed through the breach.
Separately, Financial Supervisory Authority Governor Lee Chan-jin said cyberattacks had hit 16 South Korean financial firms as of Oct. 14. Daishin Securities said personal and credit information belonging to 38,490 customers had been leaked.
