An OKX survey found that 19% of respondents in France, Germany, the Netherlands and Poland chose crypto as a tool for lasting wealth, compared with 8% who chose traditional retirement plans. In the US, 21% chose retirement accounts and 12% chose crypto. The Pollfish survey covered 1,932 adults aged 18 to 88 across the five countries between Oct. 14 and Oct. 18; all had previously invested in crypto, so it does not represent all investors.
Real estate led overall, chosen by 34% of respondents. The survey also found that 47% of European respondents and 55% of US respondents excluding boomers expected to increase their crypto holdings or allocation. Separately, the US Department of Labor issued a draft proposal in March 2026 to expand 401(k) investment options to include crypto and other alternative investments; it was a proposal, not an approved change.
