Two tokens linked to US President Donald Trump led losses among the top 100 digital assets after the US midterm elections, even as the broader crypto market rose. CoinMarketCap data from around 5:32 p.m. UTC showed Official Trump (TRUMP) down 17% over 24 hours to $1.33 and World Liberty Financial (WLFI) down more than 7% to $0.047. The timing does not establish that the election results caused the declines.
The source reported that Democrats won control of both the House and Senate. Bitcoin rose more than 4% over 24 hours, while the overall crypto market gained 3.4%. Analyst Benjamin Sarquis Peillard said the token selloff could be a short-term reaction to the results, but questioned what would sustain demand beyond the tokens’ political associations. The effect of the results on crypto legislation remains uncertain.
