Crypto asset manager Grayscale is launching a Decentralized AI Fund centered on decentralized artificial intelligence projects, according to a July 17 statement. The fund, Grayscale Decentralized AI Fund LLC, aims to give investors access to the expanding AI sector within the crypto ecosystem and will rebalance quarterly.
Notably, the fund includes AI crypto protocols like Bittensor (2.92%), Filecoin (30.59%), Livepeer (8.64%), NEAR (32.99%), and Render (24.86%). These assets fall into three categories: decentralized AI services, solutions addressing centralized AI issues, and essential AI development resources.
Rayhaneh Sharif-Askary, Grayscale’s Head of Product & Research, emphasized that blockchain-based AI protocols embody decentralization, accessibility, and transparency, mitigating risks tied to AI proliferation. Grayscale, the world’s largest crypto asset manager, oversees over $10 billion in digital assets.
The AI sector has seen explosive growth, driven by tools like ChatGPT, with AI stocks like Nvidia soaring 507% in two years. The AI crypto sector recorded a 222% gain in Q1 2024. The overall AI market surpassed $184 billion in 2024, up nearly $50 billion from 2023, and is projected to exceed $826 billion by 2030.
Grayscale’s strategic move aims to capitalize on this rapid growth, positioning investors to benefit from the booming AI market.
