Tether Advocates Decentralized Tech Amid Global IT Crisis

Stablecoin issuer Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino has urged increased investment in decentralized peer-to-peer technologies following a global IT outage on July 19. CrowdStrike’s CEO, George Kurtz, confirmed that the issue was identified, isolated, and fixed.

Ardoino suggested that the incident highlighted the vulnerability of centralized systems. He noted that the internet relies heavily on three major companies, and any failure in their infrastructure can disrupt entire nations and businesses. Ardoino emphasized that Tether and Holepunch are developing technologies resilient enough to withstand significant disruptions.

This sentiment aligns with many in the crypto community, such as Gabor Gurbacs, who argue that decentralization is becoming a necessity. The shift towards robust, decentralized systems aims to ensure financial and industrial products are “apocalypse-proof.”

In the long term, investing in decentralized technology could create a more stable and resilient digital infrastructure.
