Circle Shareholder Sues Trump Over UAE Deals

Circle shareholder Jay Benjamin Greenberg sued President Donald Trump, World Liberty Financial and related individuals on Oct. 22, 2026, alleging that Trump received unlawful financial benefits from UAE-linked transactions. The complaint concerns the reported $500 million sale of a 49% stake in World Liberty Financial and the use of its USD1 stablecoin to settle MGX’s $2 billion investment in Binance. Greenberg alleges the transactions also harmed Circle through unfair competition; those claims have not been decided by a court.

Greenberg seeks the return of allegedly unlawful proceeds, disclosure of similar receipts and damages in an undetermined amount. Circle said it did not initiate, authorize or help prepare the lawsuit. World Liberty Financial rejected the allegations, and the Trump administration rejected suggestions of a conflict between his official duties and crypto business interests.
