Ukrainian MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak announced that Ukraine might delay cryptocurrency taxation until after the war. The draft law on cryptocurrency legalization is expected by December 2024.
This delay, influenced by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), aims to create a robust regulatory framework for virtual assets. In March 2024, the IMF urged Ukraine to update its virtual assets legislation to align with international standards.
The collaboration between the National Securities and Stock Market Commission (NSSMC), the National Bank of Ukraine, and the IMF underscores the global importance of these regulations. This postponement could attract more investors, fostering innovation and economic growth.
By aligning with IMF recommendations, Ukraine’s regulatory framework will gain global recognition, enhancing its reputation in the crypto space. The strategic delay ensures a favorable environment for the cryptocurrency market to flourish long-term.
