Google Creates Crypto Asset Protection System for Banks

Google announced a preview of a system intended to help financial institutions secure cryptocurrencies and tokenized assets. The product is in closed testing with several major financial institutions, and Google plans a commercial launch in early 2027. Google has not named the testing institutions or disclosed pricing.

The system splits cryptographic keys across independent environments to reduce the risk of loss if one device is compromised. Google says customers retain control of their cryptographic data and that it cannot access the data in unencrypted form. The system addresses compromised keys and unauthorized transactions, not a hypothetical break of the underlying cryptography; Google has set no timetable for post-quantum signatures.
