Report: AI Agents Access US Bank Accounts

Morgan Stanley has begun blocking third-party AI agents on its platforms, while JPMorgan, Bank of America and Citi are restricting access, Axios reported. Morgan Stanley said it had not observed access by “uncontrolled AI agents.”

According to Axios sources, banks have recorded agents using customers’ credentials and, in some cases, activity that may have exceeded users’ instructions. Banks cannot always tell whether a customer directed an agent or access was unauthorized. Some are considering read-only access, which would let agents view financial information but not execute transactions.
