Binance founder Changpeng Zhao warned that AI-powered cyberattacks could increase after the October 29, 2026, attack on the exchange, which caused an estimated $6.36 billion in damage. He did not provide evidence that AI was used in the attack. Elliptic found that automated scripts moved stolen assets, but its analysts saw no signs that AI agents made decisions independently.
Zhao urged the crypto industry to use AI defensive tools and develop common cybersecurity standards or an alliance. Discussions are underway, but participants have not reached a concrete agreement.
