A writer testing Claude to install the Free My TV launcher on an LG webOS TV said the assistant asked them to enable Developer Mode without warning that it would wipe their rooted setup. The change removed Homebrew Channel and an ad-free YouTube app. Claude later restored both apps, but the writer said root access did not return.
The launcher installed and opened, but it did not replace the default home screen: pressing the remote’s home button returned to LG’s launcher. The writer said the Developer Mode app must be opened manually unless root access makes it persistent. Attempts to research restoring root ran into the assistant’s safety restrictions; the writer did not report regaining root.
